THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A GALVO DRIVEN LASER MARKING SYSTEM

There is that old saying “Do it once, do it right!” This is something that we really believe in at Millennium Signatures Marking Systems and we want to help you to consider the most important things when looking to purchase a new Laser Marking System for your Facility.

Q: Where is it made and who supports the equipment?

A: One of the things we see weekly is companies calling us in desperation with a laser system that was bought at auction or through a sister company from somewhere overseas and they can’t get quality support, anxious for us to offer instruction on the use of the system, configure or repair their system. Millennium Signatures only supports TYKMA Electrox built Laser Systems. If you want to be supported by the best, buy the best!

All Millennium Signatures, Laser Systems are produced in a very state-of-the-art, 100,000 square foot TYKMA Electrox facility in Chillicothe Ohio in the USA. Just as Millennium Signatures is as the Canadian arm of this global network, the other distributors worldwide are all extremely knowledgeable and have full field service capability and highly effective remote access support, we all stock spare components and all have strong access and communication to the technical assets on the factory floor. The distribution partners not only have excellent support from the factory level but also work to support and back each other up making sure that all our end-users get the support they need. You will not find a larger more experienced support network behind any competitive Galvo Driven Laser Marking Product.

Q: What is the warranty coverage of the system you’re looking at?

A: It’s true, the best-built products are backed by the best warranties!
All TYKMA Electrox built Laser Systems with the exception of the Laser Gear Series are backed by a comprehensive 3-Year Warranty. The Laser Gear Series is our entry-level line of lasers which are carefully designed to be available at a reduced price point to make the purchase of Laser Technology a bit easier for some and done without giving up quality or too much capability. For these reasons the Laser Gear line is fully supported for 18-Months from the time of delivery.

Q: Is it easy to use? My facility is fairly remote from urban centres, will I need to spend a lot on on-site Installation and Training?

A: We approach this situation on a case-by-case basis. If you want us at your facility, we will be there! Some costs will be involved if travel is necessary, but most lasers are received, unpackaged and set-up by our customers without the physical presence of a technical on-site. The systems are very easy to set-up and use. Everything from the way the packaging is designed for transport to the way Software and Drivers is installed has been carefully designed in consideration of this situation. You will always be supported with whatever level of service you require, but the technical team at Millennium Signatures and the Technical Team of TYKMA Electrox behind them are highly experienced with how to walk new customers through the basic steps and getting them operational quickly. Let’s not forget about the series of professionally made, easy to follow video tutorials that come on the flash drive included with your system. Plug it into a USB Drive, select one of the nine (9) basic descriptions of the task you want to know about and press play!
Even for those who are not feeling confident about taking on this new technology at all, the well-written and well-organized manual, along with video tutorials, telephone support from our technicians and highly effective remote access to your system on-site, most clients are very surprised just how easy it is and how quickly we can have you up and running. We can even offer a completely loaded and pre-configured Lenovo Business Grade Laptop be sold with your system making it so it just could not be any easier coming out if the box.

At Millennium Signatures, you are always welcome to supply us with sample parts before you receive your system and we can assist you by creating some positive locating fixtures and part marking layout files in advance and sending them with your system allowing you to potentially start production marking within an hour of opening the box!
All perfectly pre-configured and tested back at one of our facilities for a plug and play start-up!

GALVO DRIVEN Laser Technology is always the way to go. It’s a little more expensive than Flat Bed Flying Optic based machines but far outperforms and outlasts those highly mechanical systems. TYKMA Electrox Lasers are proven time and time again to be extremely fast, reliable and maintenance free. BALL SCREW vs PRECISION REINFORCED COG BELT Driven Dot Peen Marking Systems

Millennium Signatures “Marksman Series” Computerized Dot Peen Marking Systems is a comprehensive collection of equipment models, all offering their own unique features and abilities.
Among their many differences, they can be quite easily divided simply into two (2) groups just by the drive technology they are equipped with.
We have the Precision Reinforced Cog Belt Driven models and the slightly higher-end Ball Screw Driven models. While it’s true the Ball Screw Technology does have some advantages over the Reinforced Cog Belt Driven models, don’t fall into the thinking that the Reinforced Cog Belt Driven Systems are inferior or not worthy for those of you who believe strongly in buying a good product and doing things right the first time!
It is true that Ball Screw is a little more precise and does have better registration, repeatability long term, but the reality is they really only show an advantage in some situations. For example, if you are doing Machine-Readable Codes all the time on a regular production basis and your markings are not only required to be clean, sharp and precise to the naked eye, but also to today’s world of high definition scanning technology, then yes there would be an advantage to going to a Ball Screw Design for the very best possible code generation. Ball Screw is also beneficial when it comes to longer distances as in the X or Y-Axis travel of your Marking Head. Our Model MH-250 Marking Head which features a larger marking area of 250mm (9,84”) x 250mm (9.84”) is an example of where we use the Ball Screw Drive mechanism because it allows for us to maintain a tighter tolerance over a greater span. If we build custom Marking Heads for a customer that cover an even larger span, naturally we would continue to stay with the Ball Screw Drive.
Ball Screw is also a little longer lasting, so should your machine be running around the clock or performing a very high number of cycles every hour ongoing then this might be a reason to invest in the slightly more expensive Ball Screw Driven Technology. Ball Screw Systems also yield some additional benefit when marking really small characters. The extra precision of these units will start to show when marking characters under 2.0mm in height with one of our precision marking tips such as the PH-16 or the LP-06.
However, eight or nine of every ten Computerized Dot Peen Marking Systems sold are based on the Precision Reinforced Cog Belt Driven Technology and it is not to be underestimated. It is remarkable the character generation and repeatability these systems provide, year after year. They are also highly proficient at Barcodes such as 2D Matrix, UID and QR codes, it’s only recommended to upgrade if these markings are very high in volume.
When demonstrating these systems, most clients will not even ask to see the Ball Screw Driven models as they feel it is not at all necessary. The marking is extremely clean and the codes read perfectly. The feedback we get from clients that have owned these systems for years, consistently indicates that they continue to perform like new. There is no noticeable deterioration and they are very happy with the reliable, maintenance-free experience they have had.
We have a lot of great Marking Systems for you to see. Regardless which Drive Design you feel is right for you, Marksman Systems are extremely well designed, easy to use and very well priced.

73XNW MARKING INK

What to know about 73X and 73XNW Series Aerospace Grade Marking Inks.

BASIC DESCRIPTION
This is our most versatile marking ink. For the past 20 years, it has been used by leading aircraft and space component manufacturers for general purpose marking. In space applications, the out-gassing characteristics are extremely low.

SPECIFICATIONS
When applied properly, the ink meets or exceeds the performance requirements of G.S.A Specification: A-A-208 TYPE I

WHERE TO BUY
Supplied by Millennium Signatures Marking Systems Inc., they are shipped from Buffalo, New York in the USA or Burlington, Ontario in Canada.

DANGEROUS GOODS
This product is classified as a “Dangerous Goods” product and in some cases will require some additional fees to cover costs associated with the special packaging, labelling, documentation of the product above and beyond the transportation fees themselves. This is unavoidable in a lot of cases

RECONDITIONER
Along with the Aerospace Grade Marking Ink which is available in a variety of colours, but always maintained in stock in BLACK, RED and WHITE if the 73XNW Grade “Reconditioner” which is the corresponding solvent which should be used to thin the 73XNW Series Marking Inks or used in Clean-up Applications. It is not a requirement that both be purchased, they are sold independent of one another, but it is recommended that you have Fresh Reconditioner on-hand if you are using the Marking Ink.

BASE
The base of this Marking Ink is Ethyl Alcohol. This is NOT a two-part Marking Ink. It is ready to use right out of the bottle unless it should need to be thinned out some using the Reconditioner to suit your application.

SHELF LIFE
When stored in a cool place in a sealed container it is stable for a minimum of one (1) year. However, periodic exposure of this ink to the air will cause it to become more viscous (thicken). The addition of the 73X Reconditioner will thin the ink back to a suitable consistency.

DRYING TIME
Room Temperature, humidity and ink film thickness all may have a significant effect in drying time.
On average, however, the ink when applied with a rubber stamp and pad will dry to the touch in approximately 6 minutes.

CORROSION
Since this ink is NOT compounded with any toxic or harmful acids, it is non-corrosive on Aluminum Alloys, Magnesium, Stainless Steels, Titanium or many of the exotic Space Grade metals.

APPLICATION
It is recommended that the use of a Rubber, Cloth or Linen Type of Stamp in combination with a Stamp Pad is best. All of these items are available through Millennium Signatures Marking Systems Inc., and Custom Stamps can be shipped out within 24-48 Hours.
Call (905) 639-0909 or e-mail our Part Marking Specialists at info@millenniumsignatures.com for more information.
We are here to support your inquiries and can offer more detailed information about how best to apply your ink markings and get the best results!

At Millennium Signatures Marking Systems Inc., we prepare Metal Nameplates and Signs to your exacts requirements. Various materials, various thickness, with holes and slots or without. Square corners or rounded corners, whatever you need. We have several processes including Aluminum Anodized Plates, Deep Etch & Fill on Steel & Aluminum, Engraved & Filled and our most popular process Custom Laser Sintered Metal Signs and Nameplates.
Our unique Laser Sintering Process uses a special formulation of granular ceramic materials baked into the cavity created while Laser Marking. This process is highly effective on Stainless Steel and Aluminum Plates and Products.
The marking is approximately 0.004” in depth and the ceramic powder that is fused into the material provides a Beautiful even texture and great contrast! CUSTOM PART MARKING or “Contract Marking” as its sometimes called…

A bit about the services we offer. As Part Marking Specialists, we spend all day, every day evaluating various types of parts of all shapes, sizes and materials being manufactured to various industry and military specifications. Our core business is to assist our customer with determining which of our many Marking Systems is ideally suited for their specific needs and getting them set-up with it.
However, with such an accumulated wealth of knowledge and experience dating back almost 50 years, we have made Custom Part Marking or “Contract Marking” a service we’ve offered for more than 18 years now and it’s become a huge part of our business!
We’ve equipped a division with all the high-end pieces of equipment and technology we manufacture and sell along with an in-house artwork department. We can handle pretty much any part marking task you can throw at us. We have several Fibre Laser Marking Technologies, we have CO2 Lasers, we have a whole range of Computerized Dot Peen Marking Systems with various capabilities from DEEP MARKING to Circumferential or “Cylindrical” Marking capabilities. We have Electro-Chemical Etching and make Custom Stencils right on-demand in-house. We do engraving and stamping. We do Computer Controlled Low-Stress Scratch Marking or Scribing. We have a LOT of capability and most importantly a wealth of Experience & Talent in-house to process your parts exactly as needed and with very fast turn-around. Next day in most cases!
One of our most popular offerings is a program that combines Custom Part Marking Services with a desire to make an equipment purchase. We have our client give at least a batch of your production parts for processing initially. Yes, you pay us to mark them but we will design and create effective positive locating jigs and fixtures for you. We will do the application testing and get you exactly the great results you have in mind and we will set-up Marking Layouts optimized for higher throughput applications, the graphics and the programs for you. We will process parts for you once or as often as you’d like until you are ready to have the same equipment we are using in our Custom Marking Center places on your factory floor. We will have gotten the results you want and you will have already gotten feedback from your colleagues and clients. We will have worked out the fine details of any new process set-up and when you decide you want a brand new version of the same on your shop floor, we will give you the programs, fixtures, settings, EVERYTHING needed to start production marking immediately!

We are told often that the experience is a smart way to buy things. It’s a smooth process that gives the buyer total confidence in their purchase and certainly a very effective way to introduce and start using a new process.

We are able to mark almost anything. We are not very limited by part size, weight or material. We have a lot to offer. Contact our Part Marking Specialists at Millennium Signatures Marking Systems and ask about what we can do for you.

New Benchtop Marking System!

We have a very exciting NEW Bench Top Marking System to tell you about.
It’s called the MK-250/200BN complete with a Heavy Duty Rotary Axis on our unique CDC-20 Positive Alignment Slide.
This system is not entirely NEW as much as it is a seamless blend of other popular Marksman Series Marking Systems. Here are the Four (4) features that make it unique and more versatile than anything else you will find on the market.

1 > This system uses our latest and most compact Controller which is packed with features such as Ethernet, USB, Read/Write SD Card and RS-232 connectivity. This very compact controller comes with an ergonomic Mount +Tray to support the Mini-Keyboard.

2 > This system also incorporated our MH-250 High-Performance Ball Screw Driven Marking Head, which boasts a generous 250mm x 250mm marking area. This is ideal for large parts, multiple parts and excellent for Large Nameplate Marking applications. You can never go wrong with the speed and precision of a Ball Screw Driven Marking Head and the Extra Large Marking Field comes in handy more often than you realize.

3> This extra large Marking Head has been Integrated with our CDC-20 Positive Alignment Slide which is also equipped with a Rotary Axis. The CDC-20 has been modified to allow for the larger parts (or tray of multiple parts) to be supported under the Marking Head. The Positive Alignment Slide Feature allows you to slide your flat part marking applications out of the way bringing in the Rotary Axis with adjustable Tail Stock all the while maintaining perfect alignment for Circumferential Marking of Cylinders. Having this feature allows you to switch out from conventional static Flat Part marking to Rotary Marking and back again if needed in seconds.

4> The last of the major features of this unique new system configuration is the addition of our extra heavy duty Rotary Axis with large 3-Jaw Chuck. It’s much larger and has more torque and accuracy than other systems you’ll find on the market. Without any customization, the Rotary Axis will mark parts up to 6.0” in diameter and part weight in excess of 35lbs. With modification, if needed, we can easily exceed these bits the system will be considered custom and built to suit. This may result in 3-4 lead time.
I promise you that if you’re looking for a Premium System with the versatility to take whatever part marking requirements come your way, this NEW system configuration will impress.
It was so impressive upon our first system build, that we immediately built up more for inventory, this system is proving to be very popular because there is nothing close to it being offered anywhere else.

Contact the Part Marking Specialists at Millennium Signatures Marking Systems about our Marksman MK-200BN/250 c/w CDC-20 Rotary Axis. You can reach us Monday thru Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 Eastern Standard Time.
