THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A GALVO DRIVEN LASER MARKING SYSTEM

There is that old saying “Do it once, do it right!” This is something that we really believe in at Millennium Signatures Marking Systems and we want to help you to consider the most important things when looking to purchase a new Laser Marking System for your Facility.

Q: Where is it made and who supports the equipment?

A: One of the things we see weekly is companies calling us in desperation with a laser system that was bought at auction or through a sister company from somewhere overseas and they can’t get quality support, anxious for us to offer instruction on the use of the system, configure or repair their system. Millennium Signatures only supports TYKMA Electrox built Laser Systems. If you want to be supported by the best, buy the best!

All Millennium Signatures, Laser Systems are produced in a very state-of-the-art, 100,000 square foot TYKMA Electrox facility in Chillicothe Ohio in the USA. Just as Millennium Signatures is as the Canadian arm of this global network, the other distributors worldwide are all extremely knowledgeable and have full field service capability and highly effective remote access support, we all stock spare components and all have strong access and communication to the technical assets on the factory floor. The distribution partners not only have excellent support from the factory level but also work to support and back each other up making sure that all our end-users get the support they need. You will not find a larger more experienced support network behind any competitive Galvo Driven Laser Marking Product.

Q: What is the warranty coverage of the system you’re looking at?

A: It’s true, the best-built products are backed by the best warranties!
All TYKMA Electrox built Laser Systems with the exception of the Laser Gear Series are backed by a comprehensive 3-Year Warranty. The Laser Gear Series is our entry-level line of lasers which are carefully designed to be available at a reduced price point to make the purchase of Laser Technology a bit easier for some and done without giving up quality or too much capability. For these reasons the Laser Gear line is fully supported for 18-Months from the time of delivery.

Q: Is it easy to use? My facility is fairly remote from urban centres, will I need to spend a lot on on-site Installation and Training?

A: We approach this situation on a case-by-case basis. If you want us at your facility, we will be there! Some costs will be involved if travel is necessary, but most lasers are received, unpackaged and set-up by our customers without the physical presence of a technical on-site. The systems are very easy to set-up and use. Everything from the way the packaging is designed for transport to the way Software and Drivers is installed has been carefully designed in consideration of this situation. You will always be supported with whatever level of service you require, but the technical team at Millennium Signatures and the Technical Team of TYKMA Electrox behind them are highly experienced with how to walk new customers through the basic steps and getting them operational quickly. Let’s not forget about the series of professionally made, easy to follow video tutorials that come on the flash drive included with your system. Plug it into a USB Drive, select one of the nine (9) basic descriptions of the task you want to know about and press play!
Even for those who are not feeling confident about taking on this new technology at all, the well-written and well-organized manual, along with video tutorials, telephone support from our technicians and highly effective remote access to your system on-site, most clients are very surprised just how easy it is and how quickly we can have you up and running. We can even offer a completely loaded and pre-configured Lenovo Business Grade Laptop be sold with your system making it so it just could not be any easier coming out if the box.

At Millennium Signatures, you are always welcome to supply us with sample parts before you receive your system and we can assist you by creating some positive locating fixtures and part marking layout files in advance and sending them with your system allowing you to potentially start production marking within an hour of opening the box!
All perfectly pre-configured and tested back at one of our facilities for a plug and play start-up!

GALVO DRIVEN Laser Technology is always the way to go. It’s a little more expensive than Flat Bed Flying Optic based machines but far outperforms and outlasts those highly mechanical systems. TYKMA Electrox Lasers are proven time and time again to be extremely fast, reliable and maintenance free. BALL SCREW vs PRECISION REINFORCED COG BELT Driven Dot Peen Marking Systems

Millennium Signatures “Marksman Series” Computerized Dot Peen Marking Systems is a comprehensive collection of equipment models, all offering their own unique features and abilities.
Among their many differences, they can be quite easily divided simply into two (2) groups just by the drive technology they are equipped with.
We have the Precision Reinforced Cog Belt Driven models and the slightly higher-end Ball Screw Driven models. While it’s true the Ball Screw Technology does have some advantages over the Reinforced Cog Belt Driven models, don’t fall into the thinking that the Reinforced Cog Belt Driven Systems are inferior or not worthy for those of you who believe strongly in buying a good product and doing things right the first time!
It is true that Ball Screw is a little more precise and does have better registration, repeatability long term, but the reality is they really only show an advantage in some situations. For example, if you are doing Machine-Readable Codes all the time on a regular production basis and your markings are not only required to be clean, sharp and precise to the naked eye, but also to today’s world of high definition scanning technology, then yes there would be an advantage to going to a Ball Screw Design for the very best possible code generation. Ball Screw is also beneficial when it comes to longer distances as in the X or Y-Axis travel of your Marking Head. Our Model MH-250 Marking Head which features a larger marking area of 250mm (9,84”) x 250mm (9.84”) is an example of where we use the Ball Screw Drive mechanism because it allows for us to maintain a tighter tolerance over a greater span. If we build custom Marking Heads for a customer that cover an even larger span, naturally we would continue to stay with the Ball Screw Drive.
Ball Screw is also a little longer lasting, so should your machine be running around the clock or performing a very high number of cycles every hour ongoing then this might be a reason to invest in the slightly more expensive Ball Screw Driven Technology. Ball Screw Systems also yield some additional benefit when marking really small characters. The extra precision of these units will start to show when marking characters under 2.0mm in height with one of our precision marking tips such as the PH-16 or the LP-06.
However, eight or nine of every ten Computerized Dot Peen Marking Systems sold are based on the Precision Reinforced Cog Belt Driven Technology and it is not to be underestimated. It is remarkable the character generation and repeatability these systems provide, year after year. They are also highly proficient at Barcodes such as 2D Matrix, UID and QR codes, it’s only recommended to upgrade if these markings are very high in volume.
When demonstrating these systems, most clients will not even ask to see the Ball Screw Driven models as they feel it is not at all necessary. The marking is extremely clean and the codes read perfectly. The feedback we get from clients that have owned these systems for years, consistently indicates that they continue to perform like new. There is no noticeable deterioration and they are very happy with the reliable, maintenance-free experience they have had.
We have a lot of great Marking Systems for you to see. Regardless which Drive Design you feel is right for you, Marksman Systems are extremely well designed, easy to use and very well priced.
